A vape coil is the heating element that heats the e-liquid and creates the clouds of vapour we all know and love in our vaping experiences. 88Vape offers different types of coils, including replacement vape coils for mods, vape pens, and coils for e-cigarette type vapes.
How often should coils be replaced?
If you are new to vaping, this is probably one of the top questions you have about replacement coils.
At 88Vape, we can recommend replacing your vape coils every 4-6 weeks to maintain the delicious, clear vape flavour. If you would like to vape a new flavour, remember to change your current coil to ensure you do not mix flavours, resulting in a muddies taste.
If you notice that there is a taste when vaping, this is likely because your new clearomiser or vape coil is being used before the cotton inside (or the wick) has soaked up enough liquid. You might also experience a burning flavour when your tank has run out of e-liquid and the wick has become too dry. This is commonly known as a ‘dry hit’ and can burn out the coil.
To avoid burning your vape coils, we suggest the following:
Allow anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes for your wick to soak up the e-liquid into your tank when you install a new coil or clearomiser. This applies to sub-ohm coils, mesh coils, and standard coils alike.
To prime the wick, take two or three strong drags without pushing the button. This draws the liquid up to the wick a little quicker.
Make sure to watch the level of e-liquid in your tank - don't let it run dry! It may catch you out and cause an uncomfortable dry hit.
If you're using a variable device, choose the correct settings for your coil resistance.
How do I know what coil to buy for my vape?
Choosing vape replacement coils can be confusing for first-timers, but unless you are making your own vape coils, it is not as confusing as you might think. Keep the device type and coil resistance in mind, and you will be a-for-away!
ProMod Replacement Coils
Designed for our compact mod kit, these vape coils offer variety for those who need it. Depending on what your vaping style is and what you prefer, you can choose between two different coil resistances for your 88Vape ProMod.
1.2-ohm coils are best for PG e-liquids, whereas 0.6-ohm coils are ideal for VG e-liquids.
Either coil can be used for our 50/0 e-liquids, but this depends on whether you choose to vape MTL (mouth-to-lung vaping) or DTL (direct-to-lung vaping).
50W Mod Pen 0.5ohm Coils
Mod pens or vape pens are our more advanced kits, are a little more complicated than pod vapes because they have separate coils. As you vape, the cotton wicking material can become clogged, which makes it harder to inhale and can cause the flavour of the e-liquid to become muted and much less enjoyable.
These sub-ohm coils should be changed every two weeks to ensure it is not burning out or impacting the flavour. This can be a little tricky for beginners, but when they are as easy to use as the spare coils in our deluxe vape pen, you will soon get the hang of it!
Deluxe E-Cigarette Coils
Made for our Deluxe Vape Pen Starter Kit, coils have a coil resistance 2ohms and are made for PG e-liquid, and 50/50 e-liquid vaping. They are quick and simple to replace, and should ideally be replaced at least every four to six weeks.
Are all vape coils universal?
As you can see, vape coils are a little more in-depth than you first realised. Choosing vaping coils largely depends on the type of vaping you prefer (mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung) and the wattage range on your device.
At 88Vape, we cater for a diverse range of vape styles and preferences, whether you need the low resistance of a sub-ohm coil for more vapour from your high VG e-liquid, or want the flavour hit of high PG e-liquid and need a high resistance coil.
So, add some of our premium coils to your shopping basket today for the ultimate vaping experience!
